Case study
the skyline in ink
An entire city that appeared on the wall as the printing went on: the wall, the choices, the result.
I'll show my wallThe starting point
A bare wall, a longing for a horizon: bring an entire city into the room, with no wallpaper, no seams, no installation: the image printed directly onto the surface.
The choices
Line rather than photograph. A skyline drawn in ink, dense in the foreground, fading towards the sky, so the wall breathes instead of crushing the room. The image is composed for this exact format: it exists in no catalogue.
Direct printing. The print head travels across the wall and the image appears little by little, in a single pass; the ink is born on the surface and bonds to it: it does not peel, it does not blister.
The result
A sharp, matte mural, one of a kind in the world. The kind of wall that prompts the question we like best: “that’s printed?!”
